Residents of our community come together for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes it's because a neighbour needs a hand, often it's in celebration, but many times it's because we've got useful skills and bright ideas to share.

Tatla Lake Gymkhana

The annual Tatla Lake Gymkhana takes place on the third weekend of June at our very own gymkhana grounds. Tatla residents and our Chilcotin neighbours of all ages come together and put on a great show of horsemanship and teamwork. Timed events include Ribbon Race, Barrel Racing and Pole Bending.  A family weekend and a highlight on the Tatla calendar.

farmer's markets

Growers and makers of all types come together to sell their goods a few times a year. Count on garden produce, fresh baked goods, free kittens and sometimes even live music.

Country & Western Music Festival

The inaugural 2016 festival at Homathko River Inn was fantastic, with musicians of all ages performing folk, pop, and country music in a fun family atmosphere. Who knew we had so much music to share? A new Labour Day tradition.

SAM'S FORGING WORKSHOPs

Mountain Shadow Metals does commissioned blacksmith work from their  workshop in the Tatlayoko Valley. Sam and Darren share their metal working and welding skills during workshops organized for students and community groups throughout the year. Pictured here is Ladies Night.

festival of lights

Every year just before Christmas, the community comes together for the Festival of Lights. It's a tour of sorts, a progressive dinner where each course is served at a different host's house in the same evening. Guests progress from home to home, sharing holiday cheer along the way.
